Haiku is a fixed form poetry consisting of 5-7-5 syllable. Haiku has two essences. One is cutting(kire),and the other is seasonal reference(kigo). Haiku was called “Hokku” in Edo Era because Hokku means the first phrase of Renku.
五七五の十七音からなる定型詩。俳句の２つの特徴は、「切れ」と「季語」である。江戸時代は「発句Hokku」と呼ばれる。なぜなら、発句は、連句の１番目（出発）の句だからである。
